Being a volunteer is great fun. There are a lot of smiles to be had. And it is a super way to get to know some of the amazing kids on campus. Please use the volunteer form below to the right to let us know you’d like to be involved.
For Woodlawn Engineering & Robotics Club (WREC), there are multiple ways volunteers can contribute. As an example, you could help with an Open Build and/or Meet Up session, or develop an individual project for the community. There are lots of possibilities.
The Wow! STEAM extended day program needs a) support volunteers and b) module leads. You may even want to do both: Be a support volunteer in one trimester to see how you might want to run your own session as a module lead in the next.
Support Volunteers: Support Volunteers commit their time on Tuesday afternoon(s) from 3:00 to 5:30 pm. We are currently looking for folks to help with the winter trimester (5 January through 23 February). They help the Module Leads with set up, attendance and clean up. They help kids with activity-specific tasks such as writing or assisting with crafts or tools. No STEAM experience required.
Module Leads: Being a module lead role means you own the development of a module (2 – 4 days over same number of weeks). We are currently developing content for the winter trimester and building our roster for spring. This can be done solo or in a partnership. Content does not have to be created from scratch. Most leads leverage existing STEAM curriculum or resources. A designated lead coordinator helps pull it all together for the trimester.
